The dissolution of prize competition TM tactics # 22

Red should determine a 6..

Since all of the horses move 6 squares, every horse can change lane only once with the first move. Therefore the blue horse, which moves first, is not able to block Red on the inner lane. So Red keeps going on the inner lane and at the end of the round of dice will be in the lead together with Blue. During the following round of cards the rule “inner lane before outer lane” is valid. So Red is the first to play a card with no danger to be blocked by anyone.

If Red determined a 2, every horse also can change lane for just one time. This means that during the round of dice Red cannot be blocked by Blue. However, at the end of the round of dice Blue is still in the lead. Since Yellow moves straight ahead, Red will be just in third position. Blue and Yellow are now able to block Red by playing a 7 each. Then Red can only move 4 squares during the round of cards.

If Red determined an 8, Blue, Yellow and Green already could block the three inner lanes during the round of dice by changing lanes twice.
