"Red has to chose 6 to the left."
If he would chose 4 to the left black and grey could at first go straight ahead and then after 6/8 change to the outer lane. If he would chose 6 straight ahead black could change to the outer lane at once. If he would chose 7 to the left black could move diagonally with the first square to the outer lane and then after the 6th square do the same again.
